Villa Blenda was built as a summerhouse in 1904 during the sea side period. In the 1940’s it became a boarding house and in 1950 my aunt Blenda and her husband Kalle bought the house. They paid 75.000 Swedish crownes, wich was a lot of money back then.
In the summer they run Villa Blenda and during the winter they worked in Stockholm, Blenda as a waitress and Kalle in the wardrobe. So service was close to their hearts during their whole lives. Blenda was a very energetic and beloved person who always took good care of the daily work at Villa Blenda. From early morning to late evening she worked, nothing was to big and nothing was to small. When she had a little time over she even sweeped the Garderobstrappa (long stairs up to Borgholms Castle), all so that the tourists would have a lovely climb up the stairs.
Kalle died in 1998, so Blenda countinued to run Villa Blenda by her self up til 2011, when I entered the picture. Blenda was 89 years old when she passed and she loved to keep the house in good shape and keep the guests company up until her last days. Her love for this place on earth had no bounderies and she wanted badly that someone would continue her legacy.
Så idag driver jag det vidare i Blendas fotspår så gott det går, som ni förstår är det svårt att fylla hennes skor. I’ve been renovating the house during the last years and Villa Blenda is still a very nice boarding house close to just about everything; beaches, forrests and exercise . Welcome.
